Eamonn Powers is a master’s candidate in Biology at Grand Valley State University, working at the interface of freshwater fisheries ecology and applied machine learning. His thesis develops a hydroacoustic split-beam pipeline for non-invasive monitoring of spawning lake sturgeon in the lower Grand River, Michigan, in collaboration with the Gun Lake Tribe, Grand Rapids Public Museum, Encompass Socio-ecological Consulting, John Ball Zoo, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
