Stewards of urban watersheds: Managing stormwater in the built environment (135342)
Ariana will go over her career path of starting in the private analytical lab industry and transitioning to working in local government in stormwater management (City of Seattle). In a city of over 800,000 residents, managing stormwater comes with challenges: heavy rain events, lack of infiltration due to concrete, high amount of pollution sources, aquatic ecosystems to protect and legacy environmental injustice to address. How the Source Control program at City of Seattle addresses these strategies will be shared. Finally, Ariana will go over how she ended up in stormwater management through following values and career goals.
